Abstract
The development of Web technology has brought a new insight into China´s English language teaching and learning. This paper is a one-and-a-half-year experiment of testing the effectiveness of two teaching methods based on the computer and traditional classrooms in Wuhan University of Technology. Two classes of students from both the higher level (Level A) and the average level (Level B) of grade 2006 were taught by the Online Learning Plus model and the other two classes from the two levels were taught by the Online Learning Alone model. The goal was to optimize students´ language learning and to find a new direction of teaching innovation. The final results indicated that it was highly likely that there existed real differences in student learning as a function of teaching methods. The Online Learning Plus model was proved to be superior to the Online Alone model for both the higher-level students and the average-level students.
