Abstract :
Thermogravimetric analysis was used to study the pyrolysis characteristic of algae at different heating rates(10~30°C/min) in a stream of N2. The apparent activation energy and preexponential factor are obtained by kinetic analysis. The result shows that the pyrolysis process includes 4 stages: drying, fast pyrolysis, slow pyrolysis and carbonization. The pyrolysis process can be described by 2 order reaction models . With the method of Coasts-Redfern, the average activation energy of algae was 37kJ/mol.
