Abstract
This paper presents a novel approach for the design of broadband active circularly polarized microstrip antennas. The semi-balanced amplifier configuration is proposed for the active circuits, and the active circuits are designed to match the impedance of the patch antennas. As a result, high gain, broad gain bandwidth, wide bandwidth of polarization purity, and good input VSWR can be realised simultaneously. Two design examples show the advantages of the proposed technique.
