In this paper, we analysis the effects of tie-line impedance value on the damp of interconnected power systems from the viewpoint of damping characteristics. Based on the interconnection between Xin Jiang power grid and Northwest power grid, this paper is focused on the changes in damping characteristics before and after interconnection. The simulation after increase of tie-lines in accordance with the network planning shows that increasing the tie-lines markedly improves the dynamic quality of power system. Therefore, it is an effective way to enhance the dynamic stability of interconnected systems.by speeding up tie-line construction of Xinjiang-Northwest power grid.
