Abstract :
This paper describes the introduction of continuous flow manufacturing as an integral component of a comprehensive plan to reduce cycle time and improve output stability. The paper includes the background leading up to the implementation, three phases of the implementation and a summary of the results to date. CFM, along with associated methodologies such as TOC (theory of constraints, {Eliyahu Goldratt et al., 2004}) and other lean actions have resulted in a static cycle time reduction of 45% and an output variation reduction of 70%
