Abstract :
The coastal surface wind is complicated due to deformation by the land topography and influence through land-sea thermal and roughness differences. ALOS has a high potential in observations for coastal seas because of its high-resolution sensors, i.e., Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR) and Advanced Visible and Near Infrared Radiometer type 2 (AVNIR2). We present research and operational prospects of ALOS for air-sea-land interaction in the coastal seas.
