Abstract :
Present manufacturing technology is unable to manufacture a useful tantalum capacitor below the size of 0805. This paper reviews a breakthrough in manufacturing methodology which for the first time allows a 0603 (1.52×0.76 mm) capacitor to be manufactured with high volumetric efficiency and low equivalent series resistance (ESR). 4.7 μF capacitors in the 0603 case size are now in production
