Abstract :
For the purpose of improving the spatial information of the QuickBird multispectral(MS) image while preserving spectral information, this paper proposed an approach for fusing QuickBird multispectral and panchromatic(Pan) images using nonsubsampled contourlet transform(NSCT). The low resolution QuickBird MS image is resampled to the fine scale of the Pan image and sharpened by injecting highpass directional details extracted from the high resolution Pan image using the NSCT. Experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms other approaches in preserving spectral information while improving spatial information.
