  • Abstract
Miniaturized low noise amplifiers are designed and realized in the frequency range from 1.5 to 1.7 GHz and 13.0 to 15.0 GHz, using pseudomorphic High Electron Mobility Transitors (PM HEMTs) for the input stages and a 2-stage Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) as a gain block. For both frequency ranges the application of European semiconductor sources have been applied in order to point out the competitive capacity of European industry in relation to overseas capabilities. The achieved electrical performance in L-Band is 0.6 dB noise figure with an associated gain of 58 dB, and 1.4 dB noise figure at Ku-Band with an associated gain of 31 dB, respectively, at 25°C.
