Abstract :
The artillery rocket has been widely explored and developed by various countries all over the world since World War II because of its short firepower reaction time, violent firepower and powerful damage capability. The key points lie in increasing the range, improving the fire accuracy and enhancing the damage effect on the premise of keeping the cost-effective ratio during the whole development process. Problems such as those related to flight stability and control have been always annoying the researchers during different periods. Generally speaking, the artillery rocket has undergone three periods, free-flight, simple controlled and guided rocket. The spinning of the aircraft during flight is one characteristic that always exists, which brings about a series of unordinary problems, such as coning motion caused by the serious cross-coupling e.t.. It is paramount to solve such problems both in theory and practice. In this paper, the history of development for the artillery rocket is introduced where the key idea and recent progress are especially reviewed. Solutions to certain key problems in theory and practice during the development are presented through practical case study.
