Abstract :
Based on the changing conditions of ground electric field during surveying the thunderstorm on the spot, the threshold of ground electric field which triggering the first lightning strike was determined, and a smart base station power supply against lightning which has the function of warning lightning was developed. The supply uses micro processor unit (MPU )as main control chips. On one hand it fulfills the function of warning lightning based on measuring the changing of ground electric field. On the other hand, it utilizes; current power supply mode of DC-DC using storage battery, carries out smart control through MPU, and realizes the physical isolation between power supply system of base station and outside. So it cuts off the paths that LEMP invades base station power supply and prevents it from being influenced by LEMP. The application experiment was done in strong thunder section in Qingyuan county of Guangdong province at the beginning of 2002. The experimental sample machines are installed in six wireless access base stations and one is located in mountain base station which altitude is six hundred and nine meters. The results of practical application show that this power supply runs stably and improves the ability to prevent lightning of base station.
