Abstract :
To improve the passive tracking performance and to reduce energy cost in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), a new Compressed Frog-leap Tracking (CFLT) scheme was proposed in WSNs. Dynamic clusters were organized according to the current position of the target, and the decentralized tracking structure was constructed. Based on Direct Frog-leap Tracking (DFLT) scheme, and specific implementation steps of the CFLT were deduced to compress communication amount. Tracking simulations of target were conducted, and tracking performances and communication costs of two scheme were compared in the same simulation environment. Simulation results show that the CFLT has similar good performance in the tracking accuracy with the DFLT, and that the CFLT reduces the communication cost between nodes during the tracking. This method can be applied to real-time monitoring and target tracking in WSNs.
