Abstract :
Topology control algorithm for wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) aims to adjust the network topology to improve network performance, such as throughput, connectivity and power-efficiency. In this paper, a novel adaptive topology control (ATC) method with an adjustable parameter is proposed to maximize the expected throughput and preserve connectivity and power efficiency. By tuning the adjustable parameter, ATC can reduce to most of existing topology control algorithms. Moreover, a distributed computational method is also presented to obtain the optimal adjustable parameter for maximum throughput. It is also shown that the network is of good connectivity and power efficiency under ATC with an upper bound on the adjustable parameter.
