Abstract
The characterization of rectangular waveguides with electric or magnetic shield loaded with a metallic cylinder of arbitrary cross section has been realized with a variational integral method. This characterization allows to determine a set of basis functions that will be used to model a planar antenna excited by a metallic probe. Input impedance and radiating pattern are obtained for a rectangular patch.
