Abstract
The main propagation effect on interference between adjacent earth-space paths is differential rain attenuation. A recently suggested model for the prediction of rain differential attenuation statistics is properly modified to include also the double polarized systems. The unified method for single/double polarized earth-space paths is based on a model convective raincell structure of the rainfall medium. The assumption that the point rainfall statistics follows a lognormal form is also adopted. Numerical results are presented corresponding to realistic systems under the hypothesis of using both single and double polarization. Some useful conclusions are deduced.
