Abstract :
A new double terminal method of fault location for automatic blocking and continuous power transmission lines based on the aerial mode component of fault-generated voltage travelling waves is discussed. Aiming at the difference of wave rate in overhead lines and cables, fault point seeking algorithm based on time mid-point is proposed. On the basis of analyzing mode component of original traveling waves generated by fault, combined with actual condition, the view that different types of faults can be detected effectively with only two delta-voltage travelling wave signals is proposed. Some key techniques, such as measurement of traveling wave signals, robustness of fault location system and the precise detection of fault point are expatiated. Experimental test verifies the feasibility and correctness of the proposed method.
