Abstract :
A time-step-holding method for hybrid simulation of integrated power system (IPS) is introduced. It takes advantage of EMTDC¿s functionality of designing custom component and its compatibility with Simulink to build simulation models for different networks. In this way, different time steps are used respectively in EMTDC and Simulink. It does not partition the whole system into electromagnetic network and electromechanical network. Instead, it simulates both networks in the instant value form. So it is possible for both sides to present system dynamics in detail, though the system contains large quantities of nonlinear elements in IPS. A case of the IPS network is studied. The simulation results as well as the comparison with an EMTDC benchmark show that the hybrid simulation approach proposed in this paper is valid with great precision, observability and feasibility.
