Abstract :
The combined economic-emission dispatch procedure in electric power systems treat economic and emission impact as competing objectives, which requires some form of conflict resolution to achieve a solution, that´s why we need efficient optimization algorithms. Firefly algorithm and bat algorithm are the most recent methods and they already proved there efficient in several fields of research. In this paper, we will evaluate the performance of these methods by applying them to a standard electric network of 5 buses with 3 buses generator, and then we will propose a third approach that results from the hybridization of these two metaheuristics.
