Abstract :
In this paper, an improved pulse width modulation (PWM) mode of Direct Current (DC) Motor is proposed to solve the weak points of common control mode. The new mode designs an adjustable dead time to improve reliability of the control system. If the dead time is smaller, armature current is continuous; if the dead time is larger, armature current is intermittent. When armature current is continuous, the new mode not only has the advantages of bipolar mode, but also prevents the same side MOSFETs from direct connection. When armature current is intermittent, motor has quicker response than controlled by limited Single polarity mode. Theoretical analysis and experimental research show that the new mode is practical and feasible.
