Abstract :
This paper concentrates on the average torque production of a switched reluctance motor in case of short and open curcuit of the machine´s winding. The calculation of the average torque at winding failure was made analytically. Therefore the function of torque was linearized in the operating point. As already known the switched reluctance machine still produces torque in case of short curcuits. This average torque is dependent on the number of healthy windings. This paper introduces general equations to calculate the torque dependent on the number of full functional windings and phases first time ever. Further on special short curcuits are investigated with SIMPLORERreg. The simulation shows that there is a difference if current measurement takes place before the phase winding or at the end of the phase winding. A static simulation with two phases of an SRM was performed. Based on qualitative current performance the simulation shows that there is an advantage to place the current sensor at the beginning of one phase winding instead of placing the sensor at the end of a phase winding. In this paper the focus is on motoring mode.
