Abstract :
Fixed-structure controllers which achieve a specified H∞ performance are designed. The design is performed by forming an auxiliary minimization problem with the property that the minimizing controller also solves the fixed-structure H∞ problem whenever the latter problem has a solution. Necessary optimality conditions for the auxiliary problem are derived. The procedure is illustrated by numerical examples
