This paper presents a design of power distribution automation terminal based on TMS320F2812 DSP, describes the distribution automation terminal hardware and software design, and studies to improve the system reliability and accuracy of measurement and calculation, especially the accuracy of zero-sequence current. It describes the design methods of Ethernet communication and implements the protocol IEC 60870_5_101 and IEC 60870_5_104, which makes the FTU not only can use serial port with the non-equilibrium mode of the protocol 101 to communicate with the master station, but also can use the Ethernet in a balanced mode of the protocol 104 to communicate with the master station.
