Abstract :
The authors study the design of a diplexer composed of two canonical Butterworth two-port networks having low-pass and high-pass characteristics. The problem can be simplified to that of choosing the order of the Butterworth response and determining the cutoff frequencies of the Butterworth two-port networks. To obtain a symmetrical diplexer characteristic, it is shown that the cutoff frequency of the low-pass two-port network and that of the high-pass two-port network should be chosen symmetrically with respect to the crossover frequency. A computer program, DIPLX, that gives the required results as well as the frequency response of the transducer power-gain characteristics was used.<>
