Abstract
This paper presents a new adaptive antenna and streaming control for efficient utilization of spatial resource to transmit data by using a Cognitive Multiple Input and Multiple Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (C-MIMO OFDM) for secondary cognitive user (CU). In this system, the spectrum is shared with primary user (PU) and the effect of the primary system can be mitigated by using MMSE signal separation algorithm at the receiver with adaptive MIMO streaming control. By using the proposed control method, the throughput performance of CU is improved compared with a conventional 2*2 MIMO system. In this paper, we consider two scenario of spectrum sharing as follows: 1) PU/CU synchronous case, which assumes that the CU and PU are “synchronized” 2) PU/CU asynchronous, which is realistic case and CU and PU are “not synchronized”. The simulation results show that the proposed adaptive antenna and stream control method increases the system throughput compared with the conventional MIMO-OFDM cognitive system.
