Abstract :
This paper deals with the issue of model consistency in identification procedures for LTI compartmental systems, where the existence of a positive realization of a given order must be ensured. This is accomplished by means of a finite set of constraints yielding sufficient conditions for such a realization to exist. As a byproduct, the same set of conditions also ensure nonnegativity of the estimated impulse response.
