Abstract
Dynamic, distributed state estimation can be effectively performed through the Decentralized Information Filter (DIF). It has been shown that the optimal selection of the variables, whose value must be exchanged between partitions, can be based on the determination of coupling sensitivity indexes and on the minimization of communication and elaboration cost. The design of such DIF implies certain features of the coupling sensitivity indexes, and of the optimization procedure. Furthermore, it should be based on metrics related to the local sub-systems. In this work these aspects are analyzed to set the ground for the derivation of general guidelines on the selection procedure.
