Abstract :
A successful construction project management aims to maximize construction quality, minimize construction cost, satisfy the finish deadline assigned by owners and stipulated in the contract. In the paper, a Pareto-based ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm, which is an innovative algorithm to solve combinatorial optimization problem was firstly employed to solve two-dimensional quality-cost trade off problem in construction management. A case study was employed to verify the feasibility of the proposed Pareto-based ACO algorithm. The results showed it is feasible to use the Pareto-based ACO algorithm to solve the trade-off problems in the construction management.
