  • Abstract
Voice over IP (VOIP) is an application of great importance, particularly because of the significant revenue it can generate. In order for the Internet to constitute an attractive alternative to the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), it must provide high quality VOIP services. Given the importance of VOIP today, a new course was introduced as part of the undergraduate curriculum for the Information Technology students with specialization in Networking. The main focus of this course is on VOIP protocols and requirements. Laboratory experiments were designed so that students can obtain needed hands on experience to better realize the concepts being taught. This paper will provide details on the VOIP course material, structure with a focus on the designed hands on experiments the tools used, and assessment process.
