Uniform stabilization of a hybrid system of elasticity

Abstract :
We study the boundary feedback stabilisation of an Euler-Bernoulli beam with an endmass. It is shown that for Euler-Bernoulli beam equation with an endmass, the usual boundary feedback are largely sufficient for obtaining the uniform stabilisation when applied to the end without mass. In the case of a clamped beam, higher order boundary feedback are necessary and sufficient for obtaining the uniform stabilisation
