Abstract :
Physical impairment, Amplifier Spontaneous Emission (ASE) effect and vulnerabilities of fibers and amplifiers is essential to ensure quality of service in Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA). In this paper, an Ant-based Physical Attack and Amplifier Spontaneous Emission (APAA)-aware algorithm is proposed for RWA in the context of physical attacks and physical impairments in Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks. Performance results show that APAA algorithm outperforms the traditional Shortest Path algorithm for all the traffic loads when physical attacks and ASE noise is taken into consideration.
