Abstract :
One of the serious problems in large-capacity and long-distance power energy transmission is low frequency oscillations (LFO) in the interconnected areas of power systems. Oscillation power and the synchronous angel speed of the two areas can be calculated benefiting from voltage amplitudes and angels of the two areas monitored by phasor unit measurement (PMU). Applying these data, a two-dimension fuzzy logic controller of thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC) is advanced. When angel speed of the receiving power area is lower than that of the sending power area, control TCSC to reduce the line impedance to increase the transmission power to restrain the rotor acceleration of sending power area. On the contrary, decrease the transmission power of the tie line to prevent the rotor acceleration of receiving power area. Thus, the inter-area oscillation can be suppressed via the dynamic power regulating applied TCSC. Simulation results illustrate that this solution can effectively suppress LFO, and also show better performances under different operating points for its adaptability and robustness.
