Abstract
A novel WCDMA network structure using ad hoc relaying is proposed in the paper. With the aid of ad hoc relaying, we consider that all the mobile stations in WCDMA system are dual-mode, having both ad hoc and WCDMA functions. This makes the terminals more convenient for personal communication. In this paper, the conventional mobile cell is divided into three areas: heavy interference area, voice area and data area. It can take different access modes according to the user´s location and the user´s service type. The proposed scheme is simulated and compared with conventional WCDMA system. The simulation result indicates that this scheme proposed in this paper has a significant improvement for the system capacity.
