Beijing Guidance Information System: Major Problems and Solutions

This paper aims to identify the major problems of information guidance in Beijing and to propose ways to make Beijing more visitors friendly. To this end, the authors conducted 31 surveys and 10 interviews of foreigners and undertook on-the-spot investigations. They successfully identified a number of problems, including language barrier, poor translation and inadequate public signs, and dispersed online information. Based on the findings, the authors then raise concrete suggestions on how to improve Beijing´s information guidance in order to make the city more user-friendly to both local residents and international visitors.
