Abstract
The growing popularity of short-range wireless networks makes them increasingly attractive to malware writers, and malware targeting portable wireless-enabled devices such as Bluetooth-enabled smart phones has already begun to appear. In this paper, using the theories of epidemics, we present a propagation model of malware in short-range wireless networks and investigate the propagating behaviors of the malware in such networks by means of simulations. This model can better reflect the specific characteristics of devices mobility, patterns of nodes aggregation and the wireless nature of malware transmission. The simulation results show that the agreement between malware spread in mobile devices and this model is good.
