Abstract :
Multiple scattering theories (Waterman & Truell (1961), quasi-crystalline approximation) are compared to velocity and attenuation measurements in two-phase media. Importance of correlation in position of scatterers (Percus-Yevick (1958)) and grain size distribution is discussed for velocity and attenuation in function of frequency and concentration. These two factors appear to be critical for attenuation prediction but not for velocity prediction.
