Abstract
In this paper we analyze the method of control of chaos in unidimensional maps proposed by Giiemez and Marias (Phys. Lett. A, no. 181, pp. 29-32, 1993) using periodic proportional pulses. By considering the combination of the original map plus the controlling pulse into a new single nonlinear map, standard methods in chaos theory can be directly apply to analyze the performance and mechanisms involved in the action of the method of control under study.
