Abstract :
With the increasing number of disabled people, it is an important subject for us to improve their quality of life. For special people with hands disabilities, this paper presents a kind of Smart Home Control System, which uses the head and mouth movements to control household appliances. The system combines Adaboost algorithm and ASM algorithm for face detection and feature-point calibration. According to the feature points, the system can detect the user´s head movements and mouth status information, so that the users can select the appliances by head and mouth movements. Finally, through the RS232 serial communication, the system sends operation commands to the appliance´s infrared receiver by an infrared carrier, and then the receiver will decode the information received to complete the appliance control. The system designed in this paper can effectively improve the convenience of persons with hand disabilities to control household appliances.
