Abstract
Topic map constraint language (TMCL) provides a means to impose the topic map conforming some constraints, which can be aligned with the ontology used in knowledge represent. In this paper a novel framework is proposed to validate the topic maps which maybe a subset of standard topic map model or extended model for some special application. At first, we develop a convenient tool to customize the constraint rules quickly with the simple syntax and intuitive semantics. Second, implement the processor for checking the validity and consistency of topic maps with Drools based pattern matching algorithm, improve reasoning efficiency by grouping and deleting rules, the algorithm is more powerful on semantic reasoning and suitable various special topic maps. At last, an extended topic map which provides more effective knowledge representation and navigation in e-learning education is used for experiment to estimate the presented method.
