Abstract
Scalable TCP (STCP) has greatly improved TCP´s effectiveness in fast long distance networks. However, it has been widely documented that STCP has serious problems such as instability and TCP-unfriendliness. This paper proposes a solution to increase STCP´s stability and TCP-friendliness without reducing its effectiveness. The improved STCP can dynamically adjust its congestion control window updating rate according to the link´s congestion level, so we named it dynamic scalable TCP (DSTCP). Experimental results verify that DSTCP has improved a lot of the stability and TCP-friendliness of STCP, at the same time maintained the effectiveness in fast long distance networks.
