The distributed processing and access requirements in implementing distributed virtual laboratories imply a number of challenges related to security, interoperability, and quality of service. This paper explores these aspects, then accounts for them in a distribution model comprised of five schemes: one for each of these aspects as well as processing and data storage distribution
