Abstract :
Interleaver plays a critical role in turbo codes on weight distribution, distance characteristic and error floor performance, different decoding algorithms can also influence error floor and bit error rate (BER) performance of turbo system. In this paper, we give a comparative study on error floor performance of turbo codes with different interleavers as well as decoding algorithms. The results show that appropriate choosing of interleavers and decoding methods could lower the error floor of turbo codes. Moreover, the results provided here can be used as a reference for adopting turbo codes in different application scenarios with different error floor requirements.
