Abstract :
A design method for sliding mode-model reference adaptive control is considered for nonlinear distributed parameter systems described by parabolic type differential equations in Banach space. The design procedure provides desired dynamic properties and invariance to disturbances and plant parameter variations and is based on transformation of nonlinear infinite-dimensional system to its normal form. It is important to note that sliding mode is used for adaptive control of dynamic plants with arbitrary finite relative degree and transformation to the normal form is effected under discontinuous control actions. The developed control algorithm is illustrated by a heat processes boundary control problem
