Abstract :
The macroblock mode distributional proportion and rate distortion (RD) cost of every macroblock mode are analyzed in detail. Then, concept of integrated optimal macroblock mode is introduced. The RD performance of integrated macroblock mode being the encoding macroblock mode is discussed theoretically. Finally, a fast macroblock mode selection algorithm based on macroblock mode analyses is proposed and tested. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm promotes greatly encoding speed by 3.87-8.71 times in comparison with JMVM, while it maintains better RD performance.
