Abstract :
Recently, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) G.hn standard identified the classical in-house mediums such as power lines, twisted-pairs and coax, to enable broadband data communication. The carrier-sense multiple access (CSMA) schemes such as G.hn allow only a single transmission at a time to deal with the signal collisions. However, in the case of G.hn, where a large number of devices share the same medium, the network resource utilization may be a critical issue. To this end, there has been a lot of efforts to optimize the resource utilization and reduce collisions in order to enhance the system performance. In particular, the efficient network resource utilization for communication between devices in different G.hn domains (i.e., inter-domain communication) may be a challenging task for a network with large number of devices. Given the consequent need for higher network capacity, this paper presents an architecture to deal with collisions and improve network resource efficiency for inter-domain communication, while maintaining the quality of service (QoS) for both user devices.
