Abstract :
This paper deals with computational analysis of cogging torque in small PM motors. A new approach has been implemented in calculating electromagnetic torque using finite element analysis. Many examples have been used to verify these calculations. Torque profiles for the cases of many small HDD motors are presented for the verification of results obtained. Test results on spindle motors show that the method is accurate
