Abstract :
The results of a study of the effect on longitudinal and transverse emittance growth of tanking and non-accelerating cells are presented. The major portion of the study involved numerical simulations using the multiparticle design codes: PARMILA and PARMCCL. Scaling regions obtained from the simulations are presented. Examples are provided showing the performance characteristics and limitations that may be expected from various designs.<>
