Abstract
A method for improving the operation characteristics of the multiphase boost converter integrated with voltage multipliers is presented. The light-load problem of this converter is investigated. The critical condition to maintain a desirable operation even at light load is derived as a guide to design the converter and its control. A novel PWM control method named Alternating Phase Shift (APS) is proposed to assure the good operation even at light-load. Simulations and experimental results prove the theory and the proposed control method.
