Abstract :
The design of a Musical Instrument Microphone System (MIMS) allows musicians having the opportunity to experiment with other musical instrument sounds without actually having to learn how to play them. The sound wave is received and processed in a digital signal processer with outputting digital sound frequency to a frequency to MIDI (Musical Instrumental Digital Interface) converter in real time. The MIDI note is then sent to a sequencer or sound module to produce different instrumental sound. This paper is focused on frequency to MIDI note conversion and MIDI control messages generation.
