Abstract :
In this paper we discuss a technique of synthesis of microwave frequencies using phase locked loop. As the frequencies increase and especially up to GHz range the phase noise of oscillators tends to increase. This frequency synthesizer offers exceptional phase noise performance together with simple structure, low power consumption, small size and very low cost. Rather than pondering over rigorous theoretical and mathematical approach this paper focuses on design simulation and implementation. This S-Band (2.2GHz) frequency synthesizer is intended to be used as a local oscillator in a prototype satellite transmitter, in which phase-noise control is of prime interest. This design is completed with aid of Microwave circuit technology and Advanced CAD systems.
