Abstract
The modulation transfer function (MTF) of an imaging system quantifies the ability of the system to resolve or transfer spatial frequencies. It is important to remember that the MTF of a system is a property of the entire system, therefore, all of the system components such as the FPA, lens assembly, cabling, frame-grabber, cooler, A/D converter, etc. contribute to the final MTF performance of the system. A megapixel mid-wave and long-wave IR quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP) focal plane arrays (FPAs) and a 320x256 pixel antimonides superlattice based Complementary Barrier IR Detector (CBIRD) FPA were fabricated. The MTF of the respective devices were measured and reported.
